Miguel González-Leonardo
Miguel González-Leonardo is a Research Scholar at the International Institute for Applied System Analysis. He holds a Ph.D. in Demography and a Master’s degree in Regional and Population Studies from the Centre for Demographic Studies and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and he participated in the European Doctoral School of Demography 2019-2020.
His research focuses on human mobility, migration, internal migration, and population decline. Miguel has published peer-review papers in international journals, such as Population Space and Place, Population Studies, Journal of Rural Studies or Demographic Research. In 2022, he received the Ramón Cuadrado Young Research Award from the Spanish Regional Science Association.
Miguel has been involved in several European and Spanish projects, such as Quantify Migration Scenarios for Better Policy” and “Future Migration Scenarios for Europe”, and he carried out research stays at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research and at the University of Liverpool.
