HwaJung Choi
Dr. Choi is a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine and Health Management and Policy, University of Michigan. Dr. Choi was a Fulbright scholar and received a PhD in Economics at the University of Michigan.
By training, Dr. Choi is a family demographer and labor and health economist. Her research focuses on inter-relationships among family spatial availability and care resources, health, and healthcare, and socioeconomic factors. She has been leading multiple projects in this area, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the National Institute on Aging, and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Dr. Choi currently studies the influence of potential family resources on paid and unpaid care utilization and related social, health, and economic consequences among older adults with dementia and their caregivers. Dr. Choi also assesses health differences at middle and older ages between the U.S. and England.
