Patricia Roos
Patricia A. Roos is Professor of Sociology at Rutgers University. Her research interests include work, inequalities, gender and work, and work/family. She published Gender and Work: A Comparative Analysis of Industrial Societies and coauthored with Barbara Reskin Job Queues, Gender Queues: Explaining Women's Inroads into Male Occupations. She has authored articles on a number of related topics, including occupational feminization; occupational integration; work, family, and community; and gender inequity in the academy,
Prof. Roos served as the Vice President of the American Sociological Association, and has been funded by the Alfred P. Sloan, Rockefeller, and National Science Foundations. Reflecting her research interests in higher education, she was co-PI on Rutgers’ NSF ADVANCE Institutional Transformation grant. She also served as Chair of the Department of Sociology, Dean of Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Director of the Center for Women & Work.
