Lucinda Platt

Lucinda Platt joined the LSE in 2013, having previously worked at the Institute of Education, University of London, and the University of Essex. Her research focuses on ethnicity and immigration, including labour market and income inequalities and identity, and on child poverty and wellbeing, including child disability. Her most recent book was Understanding inequalities: Stratification and difference (2011, Polity), and she has recently coedited a book on Social advantage and disadvantage for Oxford University Press (2016). She is also coauthor of Intergenerational consequences of migration: Socio-economic, family and cultural patterns of stability and change in Turkey and Europe (2015, Palgrave Macmillan). She specialises in the analysis and the development of large-scale longitudinal surveys: She was, until 2013, Director of the UK’s Millennium Cohort Study, a study of over 19,000 children born in 2000–2001; and she is coinvestigator with responsibility for ethnicity on Understanding Society, the UK Household Longitudinal Study.
