Doris Hanappi is researcher in sociology of the life course and demography in the demography department at UC Berkeley and is affiliated with the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research LIVES – Overcoming Vulnerability: Life-course Perspectives, at the University of Lausanne. Main research areas are the social, economic, and demographic aspects of family and professional life in Switzerland and other Western countries, employment quality, family planning/fertility, and vulnerability.
