Barbara S. Okun
Barbara S. Okun is Professor at the Department of Sociology, Demographic Studies, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She received a B.A. degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Economics, with a Demography specialty, from Princeton University. Barbara is primarily a family and social demographer. Her main areas of research include fertility and family change; marriage patterns and their social consequences; educational attainment and inequality; gender roles; and demography of Israel. Some of her recent research has focused on fertility in the context of the extended family, as well as on the implications for family dynamics of changes in men’s gender role egalitarianism.
