Carolina Cardona

Dr. Carolina Cardona is an Assistant Scientist at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. She is a health economist whose academic and research pursuits are primarily centered on the field of economic demography, with a particular emphasis on investigating women’s health across the life course. In her research, she broadly seeks to apply a social determinants lens to investigate two areas: 1) the influence of preferences and person-centered health services on fertility and mortality, and 2) how population changes, largely driven by fertility and mortality, affect economic growth and development. Most of her research has been conducted in the context of low- and middle-income countries, with fieldwork experience in Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa.
