Sharon Sassler
Sharon Sassler is Professor in the Department of Policy Analysis & Management at Cornell University, an affiliate of the Cornell Population Center, and a field member in the Department of Sociology. She obtained her Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University in 1995. Her research examines the factors shaping young adults’ transitions into relationships, school and work, and parenthood, with an emphasis on how these behaviors vary by gender, social class, and race/ethnicity. She is also involved in several projects that examine gender differences in transitions into and retention in STEM occupations. Her recently published papers have appeared in American Sociological Review, Social Forces, Journal of Marriage and Family¸ Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Genus, and Qualitative Sociology.
