Shaimaa Yassin

Shaimaa Yassin is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the department of Economics at McGill University in Montreal in Canada, and a fellow of the Swiss National Science Foundation. Yassin earned her PhD. In Economics in Dec. 2015 from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and her M.Sc. in Empirical and Theoretical Economics in 2010 from Paris School of Economics. Prior to her current position, she has served as a postdoctoral researcher and a lecturer at various universities in Switzerland and France, namely University of Lausanne, University of Neuchâtel, University of Paris 1 and University of Le Mans. She has also served as a consultant to several international and regional organizations as the World Bank Group, SILATECH in Qatar, the Economic Research Forum in Egypt, and the Chaire “Sécurisation des Parcours Professionnels” in France. Her research interests span the fields of labor economics, econometrics and development economics. A common thread in her research involves understanding puzzling labor market outcomes and the role of public policies in influencing both the demand and the supply forces which operate in these markets.
