Analysis of Socio-Demographic Variation in Family Structures and Geographic Proximity Between Adult Children and Parents in Europe

The analyses are performed using Stata 16.

The do-files analyze data from the 10th wave of the European Social Survey (ESS), available at:

To run the do-files as they are, three data sources are required:

The ESS administered files
The ESS self-completion files
A dataset containing corrected values for the variable "time distance from parents" in the UK, available from ESS upon request.
The publicly available version of the ESS data used in this analysis contains incorrect values for "time distance from parents" in the UK. ESS provided the corrected version of this variable upon request. The first part of the code merges and prepares these datasets for analysis.
